Let's Talk about Creating and Designing

CREATING AND DESIGNING I  often get asked by many people. How do I come up with some of my projects?  I can honestly say this that at times I don't sleep because an idea will come to mind. I don't know if this creative thinking comes to everyone just as you are about to go to bed. But it seems like just to me just as I am about to go to bed...an IDEA is born.  Once an idea starts flowing through my head its tossing and turning until I write it down or I get up and put that design to work. I always have a notebook by my bedside, let's just say that I carry a notebook everywhere I go. I even put notes onto my phone. That is because I never know when an idea will spring up in my head. As a designer, it's all of the sleepless nights that the projects come up in my head and I have to sit and put them to work.  I assemble things in my head and I pace up and down trying to figure out how to make everything work.  I don't know if I get this from my mom, beca

Let's Break Down the Different glues.

THE BREAK DOWN OF THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF GLUES! Like many crafters know, one of the things all get always asked is...What glue do you prefer to use? Well , that would depend on the project that I am working on. Not everyone will use the same glue as the crafter that is demonstrating, but I am going to give you  the break down of the glues I prefer to use when Crafting. We all have a specific glue we tend to gravitate towards more and that is ok.  I know that as a crafter throughout the years I have experimented with several types of glues and not all will work for certain projects that I have in mind. So, the following are the glues I use and why: HOT GLUE... Omg, I love Hot Glue and I have been using this glue since I was a young crafter my bedroom .  Surebonder Mini Detailed Gun is the BEST!!!!!!! It's fast drying, and it pretty much can be used in just about anything.  I don't think I have yet encountered anything it didn't glue down to.

MOJO

Wh ERE ARE YOU MOJO? There are many times that we all run into one of the biggest problem many crafters encounter...losing our MOJO! I know that I have lost my mojo plenty of times and it's so difficult. If you have been one of many of us that are looking in the books, and on the internet trying to find your mojo you may want to try one of these tricks. 1. Try strolling through Pinterest. There are plenty of inspitrations in all sorts of amazing projects and ideas.  If you know what you are looking for just type it into the Pinterest Search bar and watch as your mojo juices start flowing.   Pinterest is like the Visual Crafters Encyclopedia. https://www.pinterest.com 2.  There are magazines and Books...before the internet came along, we had magazines and books.  I remember looking through books in the library for inspirational ideas back when I was in high school.  I loved going the senior center on craft day (Tuesday) checking out they were doing for cr

Choosing The Right Paper for A Project

SELECTING THE RIGHT PAPER Selecting the right paper is like selecting the right type of glue. They are both just as important when paper crafting. Since I have started with paper crafting. I can honestly say that I have used my fair share of designer papers. If the paper is lightweight, you can't do a lot with it as far as applying gesso or any type of medium. The paper seems to tear much easier when it's lightweight. However, a designer paper that is lightweight can be used for junk journals and cards. After about 2 years into crafting with paper, my paper crafting experience, I would come into contact with many other paper brands such as DCWV, Graphic 45, Prima, BoBunny, Authentique, Stamperia, and Tim Holtz. I have stacks upon stacks of DCWV, but even though the paper was thick it would still crack and the glitter would make it hard to score. There is some paper th
